How to change your default application

There are a couple of ways to change your default applications in Windows. If you are unable to complete and/or save any of the steps, please let us know.

Option 1: Right-click a file type

Go to the file location you are opening. Right-click on the file
Select the 'Properties' option. The Properties window will appear
Select 'Change' on the General tab. A pop-up window for how you would like to open the file type will appear.
Change to the application you would like the file to open with.
Click 'OK' and the 'Opens with' should change to your new selected application.

Option 2: Settings Menu

Go to the 'Settings' Menu by selecting the gear icon in the Start Menu
Go to the 'Apps' menu option.
Select 'Default apps' in the left-hand sidebar.
Scroll to the option for 'Choose default apps by file type' in the list.
Search for your file type option. The types are listed alphabetically. Common image types are .jpeg, .png, or .bmp; PDF files are .pdf.
Next to the filetype, select the current application. A pop-up window will appear to choose a new application.
Once the application has been selected, the new application should appear next to the file type.
